About 4 years ago I decided to take my family on a #roadtrip/ #getaway. Intending for it to be a #coastal one, my #googlemap took us a little further #inland than what was initially planned. (This was before I upgraded to a gps, hey old school works too!) After driving for about 3 hours, it seemed as if we were going nowhere slowly. At the hottest time of day, with the scorching sun beating down, it felt like we were in the middle of the dessert although it was more like the #karoo. We looked left we looked right but there was not a single car nor house in sight.
Out of nowhere, came what we call in IsiXhosa, a #skororskoro or as my fellow #easterncape friends will know, the unflattering term, a cockroach. This wasn't an actual one but a very very old slow moving vehicle that's half falling apart. But low and behold, it saved us and a few metres down the road it directed us to where we were meant to go.
Off the main road and about 500m down a gravel path, was our place of stay. #stompdriftdam. Hidden away from the main roads, and right in the middle of the Karoo mountains, lies this little gem. It's nothing fancy but it sure makes for a special secret hideaway. The best part being, that just we arrived, it had rained and hence we had a lovely, refreshing, naturally-made #dam to #swim in. Whereas 6 months before it had been completely dry.
I'll be posting a few more lovely throwbacks of this trip in the coming days. Hope you enjoy!
Actually going to lose so much bloody weight getting around with this on my back 😂 I'm actually finding it pretty easy to get around believe it or not! & the roads are not that bad with a buggy however I will be ditching it at some point as reg is getting lazy!

EN/RU 🔸 Bali has a great mix of everything in it. So when you are tired of Asia (you would be surprised, but it's more then possible), it's easy to escape to a nice place with totally different essence..
На Бали просто прекраснейшее разнообразие. И когда вы устаёте от Азии (а это очень даже возможно), всегда можно затусить в каком-нить атмосферном местечке..
Day 58. Roomservice 🍴
The past three days included a lot of sleeping and roomservice. We've been out a couple of times, mostly around lunchtime, but after the intense weekend full of soccer, with mornings starting at 5.00 AM, we were tired AF! The showcase was an interesting experience with both good sides and bad sides. Let's start with the bad ones. The organisation was total shit. The guy who owns the company is the biggest bullshitter we've met in our lives. He's a former soccer player (current douchebag) from canada, played 'all around the world' and promised us 44 players and a minimum of 40 scouts within the programn. Well, there were 14 players (not even enough for a decent match) and maybe 6 scouts. He filled up the team with the local securityguards and schoolboys but kept bragging about how proffesional he is. Okay, let's move on to the good sides. Rych was killing it, on top of his game, the best on the field (not just from a girlfriends point of view) and this was confirmed by (the few) agents that were present. They all showed interest and mentioned him during and after the game but..... we're still in Asia. Nothing concrete came out of it except for a few new contacts. Besides that, the number one douchebag tried to make some more money by inviting Rych back for his program in july, with the promise that he'll find him a club then, so he might be blocking anything good as well. So, yes, nothing concrete, no contract to show you guys, sadly. But we're (still) not giving up because I have this feeling we're sooo close to the fire. Just got to be patient. Once again. Another big plus is all the great boys we got to meet at the programn, we've made new friends from Norway, to Chicago, from Sydney to Miami. Yes, it was def a great experience... to be continued. 🙏🏽 Also, the new vlog is online, including our move from Sydney to Bangkok! Link in bio ✨ #driesenlies#roomservice
