Dinner is cooked and the kitchen is cleaned. The husband is working out. The girls are playing outside before the tornadoes hit. And I am getting to spend a few minutes of peace and quiet with Harry Potter and Co.

Those sweet potato fries were amazing. Fries are one of my weaknesses...something about them dipped in mustard or (omg don't judge....mayo!) 😍😍😍👌
Happy hump day! 🐪🐪🐪 Time has been flying for me lately, mostly because I've read so many amazing books!! A DARKNESS ABSOLUTE, included. I read the last 300 pages in one sitting because OMG insane plot!! 😱😱😱 .
Are you a Kelley Armstrong fan? I haven't read her YA titles, but I'm obsessed with the Cainsville and Rockton series. A DARKNESS ABSOLUTE is the second Rockton book and I can't handle how fantastic it was. SO SO GOOD. I'll be painting my nails for a full review soon, for sure. The MC, Casey Duncan, frickin' rocks and the Yukon wilderness is a killer setting (🤓). If you haven't started this series yet, don't fret because you can catch up by reading the first two back-to-back. Like a Netflix binge! Err...kinda. 😉
It's winter in Rockton, a little town hidden deep in the wilds of the Yukon. The town exists for people who need to escape their pasts, though it's not clear if those in hiding or victims or perpetrators. Or, when the lines get blurred, both. Ask Casey. She's been used, betrayed, beaten. But she's also killed someone. She moved to Rockton to help her best friend, Diana. Ex best friend. Diana lied to get Casey to come with her, then she almost got her killed. But, despite all that, Casey decided to stay on to work as a police detective alongside her lover and the town's sheriff Eric dalton. .
Fresh off solving a series of grizzly murders, Casey and deputy Will Anders get stranded in a blizzard while they're tracking a runner from town. Seeking shelter in a cave, they stumble across a woman who's been imprisoned in a deep well. Nicole Chavez — who everybody thought had run away from town and died in the woods more than a year earlier – is alive. Barely. But she can't identify her captor because she's never seen his face.
Was she taken by one of the hostiles who inhabit the wilderness around the town? Or is Casey facing something even worse? In a town where everyone lies about their past and lives under assumed identities, it's very easy to hide your true nature… .
