My shoes are clean from walking in the rain
~ Jack Kerouac
Just kidding. I guess only a talent as rare as Jack Kerouac has the magic to pull that off. Deer Lake in Burnaby is worth a little soil in your soles, though. Here are #3awesomethings about it.
1) It is the backdrop for outdoor concerts in the summer. The Vancouver symphony Orchestra plays every year and artists such as Lumineers, Jack White and Beck have played there. Here? You know what I mean.
2). There is a lovely boardwalk all the way around it... part of which takes you through grassland and part of which leads you right along the waters edge.
3). According to Coast Salish legend, it's where the first Chief Capilano recovered a lost elk antler spear and restored his powers as a hunter.
Beaming with pride and gratitude today at the First Peoples House, and glowing from the amazing energy that was present at GOV! "It's a good day to be indigenous" - Smoke Signals 😉
